  • Built and furnished an initial modest home for ten children
  • Landscaped the compound and initiated a small-holding for food production
  • The training of care-givers from the St. Gemma Galgani Sisters in the “Montessori” child-care course in Dar-es-Salaam
  • Secured assistance from the Dutch charity “Future for Kids” to drill a deep borehole for essential water supplies
  • Installed solar and wind power, as well as a generator for the water pump
  • Gained the trust, cooperation and support of the local community, parish and prison authorities
  • Installation of a playground for children as well as continued donations of clothes, toys and books
  • In late 2007, opened a pre-school attended by 30 children from the Home and local community, thanks to the generous support of Caritas
  • In 2007-8, St Gabriel Home was featured in television and radio documentaries recorded for Polish national radio and private television (TVN), broadcast internationally via satellite and the Web.
